Key Skills & Expectations

Young Leaders will be trained over 4 months to:
  1. Interact confidently with younger members as well as adults using a variety of methods: face to face, verbally and via electronic methods. Be confident and capable of speaking appropriately in public.

  2. Understand the needs of all young people.

  3. Manage the behaviour of young people through their own actions.

  4. Take an active part in 'making scouting happen'.

In Houghton-le-Spring, 
we expect our
Young Leaders to:
  1. Think for themselves - be motivated to lead and don't wait to be told.

  2. Be confident

  3. Support young people to get the most from scouting

  4. Contribute - to the best of their ability

  5. Set a good example - in behaviour, dress and conduct both face to face, online and outside of scouting.

  6. Always follow the orange card.
